July 18, 2006 - The power outages ended late Tuesday, but PG&E was still working late into the night to fix the problem that had thousands without power and those with power keeping an eye on their thermostats. PG&E crews worked into the night to get a portable transformer up and running, after the regular transformer that serves 8,500 customers overheated. To avoid blackouts, PG&E asked residents and businesses in the area, including the valley's largest employer, Pelco, to cutback and turn their thermostats up to 82 degrees...
