Exerpt from the 2005 Fresno Solar Homes Tour Guide... PV is the main focus on this 2500 plus square foot home with pool in northwest Fresno. The solar electric system was installed in February 2004 and consists of 30 grid-tied, rooftop PV panels routed through two Sunny Boy inverters. Initially, the cost of running the Hardcastle’s pool prompted them to seek an alternative. Solar was the obvious choice, especially after “crunching the numbers”—which Mr. Hardcastle is very good at, being an accounting professional. The PV system provides most of their energy—even with Mrs. Hardcastle’s day care business going full-bore Monday through Friday.
